Frank McCarthy
(1924-2003)
Frank C. McCarthy was born in New York City in 1924 and resided in his later years in Sedona, Arizona. While going to high school in Scarsdale, New York, he studied at the Art Students League in New York City during the summers. After taking an illustration course at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, he followed by doing a studio apprenticeship. In 1948, he became a free lance commercial artist which consisted of paperback covers, movie and business ads. In 1969 he became his attempt at becoming a full time artist and never went back to commercial illustration. McCarthy was a member of the Cowboy Artists of America and the Northwest Rendezvous Group.
